Description

This is an early 18th century building, or possibly even earlier, situated on the corner of Market Street and Swain Street. The front is rendered and has fishscale tiles on the front roof slope, with pantiles to the rear. There are coped end gables and rendered chimney stacks. Both roof slopes are covered with bitumen. It is a two-storey building with quoin pilasters. The front facing Market Street has three windows, featuring horizontal sliding sashes with glazing bars. A central recessed panelled door is present. A mid-to-late 19th century shop front is on the left-hand side, and a modern double door opening exists on the right. On the Swain Street return elevation, there are two windows, with an angled oriel bay window with sashes to the first floor left and a casement with glazing bars to the right. The ground floor has a shop window and a small sliding sash. A blocked semi-circular opening can be seen at roof level.
