ORCHARD PORTMAN CP ST22SW Milepost at NGR ST 2411 2205

Milepost. 1860. By Allen and Co. Cast iron. V-shape in plan, angled top. Inscribed in raised lettering, north side "Honiton 16 3/8", south side "Taunton 2". Standing about 350 mm above ground set into bank. Part of a good group of cast iron mile posts on the Taunton-Honiton road. The name of the iron founders, Allen and Co, Taunton, is inscribed on the plinth buried in the bank.
