Description

This is a milepost located on Whitford Hill in Corfe, dating from 1860. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a hollow section and a sloping top. The north face is inscribed in raised letters with "Honiton 13 3/8" and the south face reads "Taunton 5". The plinth features the name of the iron founder, Allen and Co, from Taunton. This milepost is part of a notable collection of cast iron mileposts along the Taunton to Honiton road.
