Description

Duddlestone Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was later divided into two dwellings. It dates back to the 16th century, with alterations made in the 17th century and the late 20th century. The building features roughcast and slobbered rubble, a slate roof with overhanging eaves, and brick stacks at the gable ends, with a rebuilt stack to the right of the cross passage.

The layout is not entirely clear without an internal inspection, but it appears to be a long range lying east-west, possibly consisting of three cells and a cross passage, with a stair turret on the left side of the cross passage doorway. This stair turret is partially obscured by a two-cell, single-storey wing to the north-west, which has an outshut, and there is another wing in the south-west corner.

On the north front, the end bay to the left of the stair turret is concealed by a hipped slate-roofed wing. The full-height gabled stair turret features two two-light, steeply chamfered wooden mullioned windows. To the right on the first floor are two three-light, ovolo-moulded mullioned windows, with similar windows on the ground floor to the right. The original entrance is located beside the stair turret, featuring a good moulded door frame with stops and an inserted plank door, which is sheltered by a rustic thatched porch situated between the first and second bays on the right. The south front has been refenestrated in the 20th century. The interior was not fully inspected, but the north-east wing contains a frayed partition with brick nogging and a tie beam roof.
