Description
Park Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with an extension added to the east end in the late 18th century and a stair turret added, restored in the late 20th century. The building is roughcast over rubble with a thatched roof that is hipped to the right. It features a large brick stack positioned between the first and second bays on the right, along with a raking buttress below. There is also a brick stack to the left of the entrance, accompanied by a buttress.
The farmhouse has a plan that lies east-west, consisting of two cells and a cross passage, which may be part of a larger dwelling. The east end has been extended to include two rooms and a cross passage, while there is an agricultural building of uncertain date at the west end. The south front has two storeys and all 20th-century windows, including small glazed openings in the left end bay and three and five-light casements. The right end bay is blocked, and the ground floor features three and four-light casements flanking the entrance, with a blocked window opening on the right.
The left return, which is now the main entrance, has three bays with 20th-century fenestration and a central 20th-century door. Inside, there is a stud and plank screen leading to the former cross passage, a hall fireplace with a chamfered lintel and chamfered stone jambs, and a winder stair rising to the right. The interior also includes chamfered beams with step and run-out stops, a timber-framed partition with 18th-century brick infill in the stair turret addition, some gig fielded doors, and three pairs of jointed cruck trusses.
