Description
Old Cottage, located in the grounds of Nunney Court, is a cottage dating from the early 19th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed from local limestone and Doulting rubble, topped with a clay triple Roman tile roof and features brick stacks. The building is two stories high and has three bays with irregular window arrangements. The plain stone mullioned windows, which are of two lights, include some that have been restored, and all openings are fitted with leaded lights. The centre bay on the first floor rises through the eaves to create a flat-roofed half dormer. The entrance features a pointed arch door opening set in a heavily chamfered stone surround, with a reproduction ribbed door that has strap hinges. Additionally, there is a two-light mullioned window on the left return. This cottage was once part of the former Fussell ironworks located nearby.
