Description
Garden Cottage is an early 19th-century cottage located in the grounds of Nunney Court. It is constructed from local limestone and Doulting rubble, with a slate roof and a section at the right end covered in clay pantiles. The cottage is rectangular, two-storey, and has five bays with casement windows, most of which feature glazing bars and stone relieving arches above the openings. There are three door openings: two on the left with plain wooden surrounds and small wooden gabled hoods on brackets, leading to plank doors, and a third opening at the right end, also with a plank door. Adjacent to the left return are a pair of ashlar gate piers, each three metres high, with plain cappings and iron brackets for gates. These features were formerly associated with Fussell ironworks, which was located on this site.
