Description
The Former School House, located 10 metres north of the Rimpton Road junction in Marston Magna, is a house built in 1800. It is constructed from local stone that is squared and coursed, with Ham stone dressings, and features a plain clay tile roof between coped gables and end brick chimney stacks. This two-storey, two-bay house is designed in the Gothic style and includes four pointed arch two-light windows with "Y"-tracery and diamond leaded panes set in Ham stone surrounds. Centrally located at low level on the first floor is a plain oval window. There is a single-storey extension to the west, dating from the early 20th century, which is rendered and has a hipped Welsh slate roof. This extension features a doorway with a wooden porch and a pointed two-light casement window.
