Description
This is an early 17th-century house, forming the oldest part of a now-divided property. Constructed of local squared and random coursed stone with Ham stone dressings, it features a Welsh slate roof with coped gables and brick chimney stacks. The building is two storeys high with attics, and consists of three bays. It has mullioned windows with ovolo moulding and individual labels; the first bay has a wide three-light window above a narrower three-light window, the second bay has a two-light window above a cambered arch doorway with a three-light window above it, and the third bay has a four-light window above a three-light window. Four hipped dormer windows are set into the roof. A lean-to addition extends to the north, featuring a 20th-century casement window. A date of 1600 is reportedly inscribed on this section, alongside a cheese house. The house was modernized and substantially extended in 1927 for Herbert Ashworth Hope.
