Description
No. 21A is a house that has been converted into a gallery. It features early 19th-century remodelling of an earlier structure. The exterior is finished in incised stucco with a stone plinth and has a swept, gabled slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a half basement, presenting a two-window range. There is a 20th-century door to the left, accompanied by a late 19th-century horned 1/1-pane sash window next to the left jamb, and a horned tripartite sash window to the right. Above the door, there is a canted bay with a panelled plinth and three single fixed sheets of glass, while a late 19th-century horned 1/1-pane sash window is located on the first floor to the right. Inside, to the right of the door, there is a plank-and-muntin screen that is partially removed, and the basement features chamfered joists on the ground floor. The first floor includes a fireplace dating from around 1810. The property also has spearheaded forecourt railings on a low stone plinth, complete with a gate that has a working hinge and catch. This building is included for its group value.
