Description
21A King Street is a house that features a late 18th century to early 19th century remodelling of a late 17th century timber-frame structure, which was restored in the 20th century. The building is constructed of brick with timber framing and has a slate roof with brick end stacks. It has a central staircase plan and consists of two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with a three-window range that includes 8/8 sash windows (with a 20th century window in the centre) set in moulded cases beneath segmental arches. The eaves are also moulded.
The central entrance features a six-panel door with a fanlight, which is topped by a moulded open pediment hood supported by consoles. This entrance is flanked by 8/8 sash windows in moulded cases, also under segmental arches. The rear of the building showcases its timber-framing. Inside, there is a dogleg staircase with turned newels, stick balusters, and a moulded swan neck rail. The cellar is stone-lined. The property was undergoing renovation in October 1990.
