Description
Nos. 17 and 19 High Street is a house that has been converted into a commercial premises, dating from the early 18th century. The building is constructed of stucco and features a slate roof with stepped stone coping on the right gable end. It has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high, presenting a symmetrical three-window range. The entrance is marked by a classical-style early 18th-century pedimented painted wooden doorcase, which is flanked by late 19th-century canted bays that contain 20th-century plate-glass shop windows. The first-floor windows consist of early 19th-century eight-over-eight pane sashes on the left and right, with a six-over-six pane window in the centre.
The interior has only been inspected on the ground floor, and there may be additional features that remain.
Additionally, there are railings with spearheads and urn finials on a low painted stone plinth to the right of the door, which enclose a small forecourt.
