Description

No. 21 High Street is a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building is constructed of stucco, likely over limestone rubble, and features painted stone dressings. It has a slate roof and rendered stacks at the gable ends. The layout is a double-depth central-staircase plan, and the house stands two storeys high with a five-window range in a classical style.

There is a step up to a Doric-style porch that has a triglyph frieze. The entrance has a mid-20th century door and shop windows. On the first floor, there are late 19th century one-over-one pane horned sash windows. A moulded cornice runs under the parapet, which has moulded coping that sweeps up to the corners at the front and ramps on the returns to the end stacks. The building also features banded rusticated clasping pilasters. Inside, there is an early 19th century staircase located to the right of the hall.
