Description
No. 24 Silver Street is a house dating from around 1800, with a later 19th-century wing. The building is constructed of stucco and features slate roofs and brick stacks at the gable ends. It has a Ham Hill stone cornice, sills, and doorcase. The main block stands three storeys high and has a two-window range. Plain pilasters extend from the plinth to the cornice. There are steps to the right leading up to a Tuscan-style doorcase, which has an open pediment supported by engaged columns and an elliptical fanlight with radial glazing bars. The entrance door is a six-panel design. The second floor has 20th-century metal window frames, while the other floors feature large eight-over-eight pane sash windows. The right-hand wing, added in the 19th century, is two storeys tall with a one-window range. It includes a tripartite one-over-one pane sash window beneath a segmental arch on the ground floor, with a moulded string course above, and a one-over-one pane sash window at the eaves level. The interior has not been inspected.
