Description
No. 45 Silver Street is a house built around 1840, with alterations and extensions made in the late 19th century. It is constructed from Ham Hill stone ashlar and features a roof made of crested double-Roman and Bridgewater pantiles, with stepped stone copings on the gable ends and brick stacks on the outer sides. The building has an irregular plan, positioned at an obtuse angle to Silver Street, and stands two storeys high with a four-window range.
The left side, which is the early 19th-century wing, is set below street level. This wing, although two storeys, has two large 12/12-pane sash windows that span both floors, flanking a Tuscan-style doorcase topped with an open pediment and an ornamental semi-circular fanlight above the three-panel double doors. The forward wing, added in the late 19th century, features 2/2-pane sash windows and a door located to the right of the angle. The interior has not been inspected but is reported to have undergone significant alterations.
