Description
Bay Cottage is a semi-detached farmhouse dating from the mid-17th century. It is constructed from local grey lias stone that has been cut and squared, with Ham stone dressings and a thatched roof featuring coped gables and brick end chimney stacks. The building has two storeys and four bays. On the upper level, there are three-light leaded casement windows of an early design. The lower level features four-light hollow chamfered mullioned windows with unworked top mitres and labels, all rectangular leaded. Attached to the rear are pantiled farm buildings, which were presumably once thatched, with a coped west gable and tall stable-type doors located in the middle. The interior has not been seen, but it is reported to contain flats with unstopped chamfered beams and one fireplace, along with collar beam roof trusses.
