Description

No 1 (Co-op) is a three-storey building located on the north side of Fore Street, dating from the early 19th century. It features a painted brick front with end pilasters and an eaves gutter cornice beneath a slate roof. There is a sill band at the second floor level. The first floor has three windows, including three-light canted bays on the sides. Some of the original sash windows still have glazing bars. The ground floor is rusticated on the sides and has a modern double shop front. This building adjoins the Offices of Wellington Weekly News and is part of a group that includes the Town Hall and Nos 4 and 5 Cornhill.
