Description

The Town Hall, now the Offices of the Wellington Weekly News, was built in 1833. It is a tall three-storey building made of rusticated stucco, featuring a five-window front facing Fore Street. The building has quoin pilasters and a cornice with a parapet above, which includes a clock at its center. The round-headed doorway and windows add to its architectural style. A similar facade extends east along High Street, while the side elevation at the rear along North Street is constructed of red brick. The Town Hall, the Offices of the Wellington Weekly News, and Nos 1 to 5 (odd) form a group with Nos 4 and 5 Cornhill.
