Description
No 3, including the archway to Cornhill, is a three-storey building from the mid-19th century, featuring a red brick front that projects forward on the left side. It has a moulded eaves cornice with wooden gutter boards and a slate roof that is hipped on the right side of the projecting part. The building contains four windows, including one in the return wall at the centre, all with incised stone lintels and keystones. There is a three-light splayed bay window on the first floor to the left, and the sashes do not have glazing bars. A modern shop front is located on the left side. The archway set back to the right has a cambered head with incised stone voussoirs and a keystone. This building is included for its group value with the Town Hall, the Offices of the Wellington Weekly News, and Nos 1 to 5 (odd) Cornhill, along with Nos 4 and 5 Cornhill.
