Description

No 1 on Castle Street is an early 19th-century, three-storey rendered building located at the corner with Fore Street. It features one window in the left-hand bay, which is slightly set back, and three windows in the right-hand group. The building has a moulded string at the second-floor cill level, a moulded cornice, and a parapet, along with two panelled dies. The windows are glazing bar sash types with eaved architraves and cill brackets on the second floor. The centre window of the right-hand group has a cornice above it at the first floor. The ground floor has been modernized to accommodate wide Co-op shop premises. Nos 1 to 6, including 5A, form a group.
