Description

First Gear is a two-storey building with an attic, dating from the 18th century. It is located on South Street, next to the Midland Bank at the corner with Fore Street. The building features a slab roof with three dormers and a stucco front. There are three sash windows with glazing bars, and to the right, there is a large doorway adorned with a pediment and panelled pilasters. To the left, there is a later shop front. First Gear, along with No. 4, forms a group with the Midland Bank on Fore Street.
