Description

This boundary stone, dating from 1698, is located at the coordinates SD 9502 5292. It was originally used to mark the lands of Thomas, Earl of Thanet, and Stephen Tempest of Broughton Hall, and now serves as a division between the parishes of Stirton with Thorlby and Broughton. The stone is made of millstone grit rubble and stands approximately 70 centimeters high. It is numbered 11 in the original series of 41 boundary stones. The east side is inscribed with a "T" for Thanet, while the west side features "ST" for Stephen Tempest. There is also an inscription of "11" on the top. This boundary stone has been previously listed under a different entry, which was removed from the list on September 27, 2018.
