This boundary stone, dating from 1698, was originally used to separate the lands of Thomas, Earl of Thanet, and Stephen Tempest of Broughton Hall. It now marks the division between the parishes of Stirton with Thorlby and Broughton. Made from millstone grit rubble, the stone stands approximately 70 cm high and is numbered 9 in an original series of 41. The east side is inscribed with a "T" for Thanet, while the west side features "ST" for Stephen Tempest. The top of the stone has an inscription of the number 9.
