This boundary stone, located at the National Grid Reference SD 9505 5291, dates back to 1698 and was originally used to separate the lands of Thomas, Earl of Thanet, and Stephen Tempest of Broughton Hall. It is part of an original series of 41 stones, marked with the letter "T" for Thanet on the east side and "ST" for Stephen Tempest on the west side. The top of the stone is inscribed with the number 12. Historical records related to this stone can be found in the Broughton Hall Archives.
