Description
The town wall adjacent to the former convent school is a structure dating from the 15th century, with additions from the 17th century and repairs made in the 19th century. It is built from coursed stone, topped with brick and rendered. The wall features a slightly curved section divided into two parts, with the north-east section being slightly higher. The north-west front has patchy 20th-century render and includes a buttress at the junction of the two sections. The south-east front is completely rendered and has various buttresses. This wall is the only remaining above-ground section of Scarborough's former town defences.
