Manor House and Wall Adjoining

The Manor House and adjoining wall in Stokesley is a Grade II* listed building, dating from the early 18th century and early 19th century, consisting of two sections. The older part is constructed of dressed sandstone and features a modern pantiled roof, while the newer section has a hipped Welsh slate roof. The older section is two storeys high with three windows and a double span, showcasing a cornice and parapet with balustraded panels. The first floor has 19th-century sash windows set within architraves, and the ground floor windows are extended to full height, also featuring a pulvinated frieze and cornice. The modern part includes a glazed porch leading to a central double door, all within a similar surround. The older section has a high plinth. The later part of the building is three storeys tall with three windows, raised quoins, and sash windows with glazing bars in stone architraves. The ground floor windows here also have pulvinated friezes and a continuous bracketed cornice, with a pediment above the central window. To the right, there is a one-storey older wing, complete with a stone modillion eaves cornice and a corniced stone chimney.

Inside, the ground floor rooms are notable for their handsome moulded and modillioned cornices and intricately carved window woodwork. The older part contains fragmentary details of high quality, including a segmental arcaded screen wall in the northeast corner.
