Description

These 18th-century garden walls and gate piers surround the Manor House to the north, west, and south. To the north of the house is a red brick wall constructed in English garden wall bond, featuring buttresses and flat stone coping, with a curved western end. The eastern and northern boundaries consist of walls built with coursed dressed stone and have gabled coping. At the south-east corner stand a pair of substantial square gate piers. These piers have vermiculate rusticated lower courses, a wide guilloche moulded band, and an upper stage adorned with drapery swags, a cornice, and a pediment. The piers are of particular interest as they were relocated from Angrove Hall, which was demolished in 1832.
