Description
Nos 21 and 23 High Street are mid-18th century double houses built of local red brick in Flemish bond. The roof has been renewed with ridged concrete tiles but still features stone kneelers, a left-hand coping, and both end chimneys. The buildings sit on a tall stone plinth and have a through-passage plan.
The houses rise three storeys and have three windows in total. They feature gauged flat brick arches with large keystones and stone cills beneath replaced sash windows that include glazing bars. On the left, there is a six-panel door with an oblong fanlight set in a reproduction doorcase. To the right, there is a modern bow shop front. The central passage arch displays alternating rusticated jambs and voussoirs. Some original windows remain, and the rear elevation has a coursed stone ground floor.
