Description

A pair of 18th-century houses stands on Front Street in Sowerby. They are constructed of reddish-brown brick with a new roof of cement tiles. The houses are three storeys high and each two bays wide. Number 146 features an entrance on the left with a panelled door, while Number 148 has a central entrance with a rectangular fanlight containing glazing bars and a new door. Both houses have wooden doorcases with reeded pilasters, a simple entablature, and a dentilled cornice. The windows are generally 16-pane sashes in flush cases. However, the windows to the right on each floor of Number 146 have later glazing. The window heads are splayed stucco.
