Description
Nos 90 and 90A on Front Street in Sowerby is a house from the 18th century that has been divided into two residences. It is constructed of reddish-brown brick and features string courses at the floor levels. The eaves cornice, which has dentils, appears to be from a later date and may indicate a heightening of the building. The house has a steep pantile roof and consists of two storeys with four bays. To the right of the center, there is a two-storey segmental bow added in the 19th century. The original doorway is located to the left of this bay and includes a panelled door with a radial fanlight above it. The wooden doorcase has reeded pilasters and brackets that support a flat hood, with panelled reveals and soffit. A new door, added around 1970, has been inserted to the right of the segmental bay. The building features sash windows with glazing bars set in flush moulded cases, plain cills, and flat red brick arches. At the rear, there is a staircase window with Gothick glazing.
