Description

No 20 on Richmond Road in Brompton-on-Swale is a late 17th to early 18th century building that consists of two cottages now combined into one. The structure is made of rubble and features a 20th-century concrete interlocking pantile roof. It stands two storeys high and has two first-floor windows, along with a rear outshut. The central entrance is a four-panel door set in a concrete surround. The windows are primarily side-sliding sashes, except for a four-pane sash window located on the ground floor to the right. To the left, there is an ashlar raised verge, and brick stacks are positioned at the end left and to the left of the right bay. Inside, the first floor showcases stop-chamfered beams and joists, while a salt box is located beside the fireplace in the ground-floor room to the left.
