Description

Nos 60, 61, and 62 in Monkton Farleigh Village are three cottages that have been combined into two. They date back to the 17th century and were altered in the 19th century. The cottages are constructed from rubble stone and feature a stone slate roof with coped verges and stone stacks on the right and at the rear.

The building is two stories high and has three windows. The central entrance includes a 20th-century door and a planked door, with a pair of 12-pane sash windows on either side. On the first floor, there is a 2-light recessed hollow-chamfered mullioned casement above the door, flanked by pairs of sashes, and blocked former mullioned windows can be seen in the masonry. There are also two gabled dormers, which contain either 12-pane or 16-pane sashes.

To the right, there is a lean-to extension with a Bridgwater tiled roof, and a 19th-century single-storey addition on the left return that has sashes on the front and 20th-century casements on the left return. The rear of the property has extensions as well. Inside, the cottages feature chamfered beams with bar stops and a single-light recessed hollow-chamfered blocked window in the former external rear wall between No 62 and the rear addition.
