Description

A pair of semi-detached cottages dating from the mid-19th century, situated in Brompton Regis village. The cottages are constructed of random rubble stone with ashlar dressings, and have slate roofs with overhanging eaves. A large brick stack is positioned diagonally on the ridge, featuring four diagonally set chimneys. The plan comprises a pair of two-cell and cross-passage cottages. The two--storey facade is divided into four sections by pilaster quoins and central pilasters, incorporating a flat string course directly under the eaves. All openings are framed with ashlar surrounds, and feature two and three-light wooden casements with leaded panes. Plank doors are positioned on the ground floor between the casements. The right-hand cottage retains an original pentice hood wooden porch with a valance.
