Description

Shircombe Farmhouse is a circa 1840 farmhouse built of roughcast over flat bedded rubble, with a slate roof. The roof has overhanging eaves with decorative sprockets on the front facade, and has been shortened at the rear. Decorative ridge tiles are present, with a few plain tile replacements. Brick stacks are located at the gable ends and between the first and second bays on the left side. The farmhouse has a three-cell and cross passage plan. The two-storey front facade features four bays of 16-pane sash windows, and a gabled porch with a 4-centered arch head opening containing a ribbed door inserted in the early 20th century. It is believed that an earlier farmhouse stood to the northwest of the current building and was largely destroyed by fire.
