Description

This is a milestone dating from the early 19th century, made of limestone and cast iron. It features a square-headed stone that is damaged on the right side. Attached to the stone is a plaque with a central semi-circular headed section, which is inscribed in incised lettering stating "14 miles to Minehead." The road where this milestone is located was turnpiked in 1824.
