Description

Weeks Cottage is a house that likely dates back to the 17th century, with some alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from stone rubble and features a double Roman clay tile roof with gabled ends. The gable end stacks are made of stone rubble and have later brick shafts, while there is a projecting lateral stack at the front that includes set-offs and an integral oven.

The layout of the cottage follows a three-room plan. The end rooms are heated by gable end stacks, and the center room has a lateral stack at the front, which also contains a large integral oven. The front doorway, located to the right of the lateral stack, leads directly into the right-hand room. There are projections at the rear of the center and left rooms; the projection behind the left room houses a staircase, while the larger projection behind the center room is used as a store. Additionally, there is a later outshut at the right (east) end.

The exterior of the cottage is two stories high and features an asymmetrical south front with four small window openings that have timber lintels, although the windows were boarded over at the time of inspection. The central projecting lateral stack has weathered set-offs, and to the right of it is a large semi-circular projecting oven with a slate lean-to roof. A plank door is situated to the right of the oven, which is sheltered by an open porch with a tiled lean-to canopy. The rear (north) wall projects on the right, and at the east end, there is a large single-storey outshut with a tiled lean-to roof. The interior has not been inspected.
