Description
The Methodist Church, built in 1854, features a west front that is subsequently slate hung. It is constructed from random rubble local stone with a plinth, limestone dressings, and a bitumen-covered slate roof. The church is a single cell structure with an entrance located at the north gable end. This entrance includes a 2-light pointed arch window with divided tracery above a pointed arch doorway that has a hoodmould on the west side, which faces the road. There are also two full-height 2-light pointed arch windows with divided tracery and decorative leading on the west front, and a similar arrangement on the south gable end. The north front is not visible.
Inside, the church retains original fittings, including a north gallery, matchboard dado, and pews made of stained pine. There is a pipe organ, a reading desk, and stained glass dated 1939 located in the south wall. The railings and dwarf wall, dating from around 1854, consist of cast iron spearhead railings set in a dwarf random rubble retaining wall that returns around the forecourt on the west front.
