Description

Milepost approximately ten metres west of number 137 on Eskdaleside-Cum-Ugglebarnby Coach Road in Sleights is a late 19th-century milepost. It is made of cast iron, painted white with black lettering. The milepost has a triangular shape with a sloped upper face and a semicircular back plate. The left face indicates directions to Pickering (17 miles), Whitby (4 miles), and Malton (25 miles). The sloping upper face is marked with "Whitby RDC," and the back plate reads "North Riding Yorkshire."
