5/20 Outbuilding at Newton Grange Farm, 30m NE of farmhouse

GV II

Former cart shed, possibly a fragment of the previous farmhouse, C17. Rubble with stone slate roof. Three rooms in an L shape. The southern room, which has a small blocked basket-headed light in its gable, and a triangular-headed chamfered doorway, is joined at its corner only to a room with a 4-light double chamfered mullion window with hoodmould, now blocked. There are substantial ceiling bars and a trace of moulded plaster representing a pomegranate. The attached third room has a columbarium in its gable.
