Description
The Bank Newton 2nd Lock and Bridge No. 166 on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal was built around 1790 and designed by engineer Robert Whitworth. The lock is made of dressed sandstone and features rebates for wooden gates. At the lower end, the coping sweeps out to the basin, which is spanned by a small segmental arch bridge. The bridge has solid parapets that meet at a point in the center.
