Description

Bank Newton 5th Lock Bridge Number 167 is a lock and bridge built around 1790, designed by engineer Robert Whitworth. The lock is made of dressed sandstone and features rebates for wooden gates. The coping of the lock sweeps out to the basin at the lower end, which is spanned by a small segmental arch of the bridge. The bridge has solid parapets that come to a point in the center.
