Description

The Bank Newton 4th Lock on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal was built around 1790 and designed by engineer Robert Whitworth. It is constructed of dressed sandstone and features rebates for wooden gates. The coping is ramped and extends outward towards the basin at the lower end.
