Description

The Reading Room is a disused Wesleyan chapel built in 1835. It features rubble construction and a Welsh slate roof. The building is a single storey with two windows and has quoins at the corners. A central leaved board door is situated below a deep ashlar lintel that is inscribed with "Wesleyan Chapel AD 1835". The windows, which were shuttered at the time of the last survey, are located below timber lintels. After the Gothic Wesleyan Chapel was constructed across the road in 1863, the building was converted into a day school and later served as a reading room.
