Description

Limekilns located in Black Scar Quarry, dating from the mid-19th century, are constructed from ashlar, rubble, and brick. They feature two segmental-arched, quoined, ashlar openings that are aligned within a rubble frontage. The triangular-plan hearths are lined with rubble and each has a small circular opening at the top covered with a slab. Above the kilns, there is a flat walkway, which may have been used for railway wagons, along with the remains of a brick superstructure at the rear.
