Description
West Lea Cottage was originally a Wesleyan Chapel, later serving as a Sunday School, and is now a house. It was built in 1826 and features rubble construction with a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has two bays, with quoins at the corners. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door set in an ashlar surround with splayed bases. Above the door is a plaque that reads "WESLEYAN METHODIST CHAPEL ERECTED AD 1826". The cottage has 20th-century four-pane casement windows beneath cement lintels and a stack located at the left end. It transitioned to a Sunday School when a new Methodist Chapel was constructed a little to the east in 1890. The building is included for its group value.
