Description

The cross, dated 1674, is located in Carperby cum Thoresby on the village green. It is made of sandstone and stands on a base of seven square steps. The cross shaft is octagonal and tapers towards the base. On the south-west face, there is a plain recessed panel on the horizontal arms of the cross, and at the top, a panel inscribed with "RB". The north-east face features a recessed panel on the horizontal arms with raised figures reading "1674". Additionally, there are face masks in bas relief on the ends of the horizontal arms.
