Description
Yore Bridge is a bridge dating from the 16th century, which was widened downstream in 1788 by John Carr. It is constructed of rubble and ashlar. The bridge features a single segmental arch. The upstream side is largely from the 16th century and has two orders of rubble voussoirs. Above this, there is an 18th-century parapet made of ashlar with an ashlar segmental coping.
On the downstream side, the bridge has an ashlar soffit, with voussoirs that display chamfered rustication and a hoodmould. The spandrels and parapet are made of rubble, with an ashlar band, paterae in the spandrels, and segmental coping. The parapets curve around to the north-east and south-west, terminating in circular bollards. The bridge is partly located in the parish of Carperby cum Thoresby.
