Description

The Cottage is a 19th-century cottage located on the west side of Victoria Street. It is constructed of slobbered rubble with a stone slate roof and has two storeys and two bays. The entrance on the left side features a wooden surround and a hood. The large window on the right side has a 25-pane fixed light, while the two upper floor windows are fitted with 16-pane sash windows. At the rear of the cottage, there is an early 18th-century gable entrance to 4 Victoria Street, which is now blocked but has a moulded surround. A massive decorated lintel above this entrance is inscribed with "17 TC," although the right-hand part is obscured by the rear wall of the cottage. The right-hand jamb of the lintel is visible in the gable end of No. 4. The Cottage is included in the listing due to the significance of the gable entrance.
