Description
Primrose Cottage is a former barn to Primrose House, now converted into two cottages and two flats. The building features coursed rubble stone dressings and a stone slate roof. It dates from the mid to late 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The structure has three storeys and four bays. Originally, there was a central carriage entrance, which has been altered to include a late 18th or early 19th-century door with plain surrounds on the left, now blocked, and a window on the right. The entrance to No. 1 is located on the extreme left, while No. 2 has its entrance to the right of centre, both featuring plain surrounds and being of 20th-century design. The building has a mix of 19th and 20th-century windows, except for the second floor, which forms the rear of 1 and 2 School Hill. This section has three two-light chamfered windows with cavetto mullions and one single-light chamfered window, all fitted with 20th-century casements. A ridge stack is present on the left-hand gable end. The building is included for its group value.
