Description
The building at 124-130 Front Street, Sowerby, is a row of cottages, likely dating from the 16th century. It originally appeared on the list under the name Main Street. The cottages are characterised by timber framing, with the end of the wall plate visible at the north end. The original timber frame has been brick-cased and rendered, with a zigzag finish on the north gable. The building is now two storeys high. The doors and windows are 19th and 20th century replacements. The interior of number 126 retains some original timber features concealed by plaster, including a jowled post, stout beams and posts, and a large arch brace.
